LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- After a week off due to the Thanksgiving holiday five Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's swimming and diving squads made their final splash in 2018.
Austin College and McMurry went head-to-head in a dual meet over the weekend where the Roos' prevailed 152-67. Junior Chris Brown led the effort for Austin College earning wins in the 200 IM (2:06.96) and 200 back (2:05.39) while freshman Braden Sullivan touched the wall first in the 100 (50.19) and 200 (1:51.36) free events. The Roos' also earned relay victories in the 200 medley (1:44.14) and 200 free (1:33.02). For the War Hawks, junior Dany Baki won the 1000 free finishing in 11:26.37 and freshman Ethan Sykes topped opponents in the 500 free with a time of 5:19.92.
Centenary and University of the Ozarks competed at the Hendrix College Invite where they placed third and fifth, respectively. The Gents were paced by freshman Miguel Vasquez who completed the 100 back in 52.00, the fastest time in the SCAC so far this season. Vasquez also earned a victory in the 100 free finishing in 47.57. Freshman Joel Coppernoll placed second in the 200 free for the Eagles with a time of 1:50.82.
Trinity sent divers to the International CAMO Invitation where sophomore Daniel Valmassei placed 11th with a score of 237.60.
The 2018 portion of the swimming and diving schedule will conclude on Dec. 17th when Colorado College competes in a dual with St. Norbert.
