LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- A pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's swimming and diving programs concluded their regular season in the pool over the weekend.
Trinity traveled to Birmingham to take on Birmingham Southern in a dual were the Tigers prevailed 169-122. Sophomore Beau Tipton led the charge for Trinity, earning wins in the 100 (53.08) and 200 (1:55.88) fly. The Tigers produced several other individual winners with junior Elliot Fleming taking the 100 breast in 59.46 and sophomore Shamzi Alkaff titling in the 100 free with a time of 47.50. Earlier in the meet, Fleming and Alkaff teamed-up with junior Daniel Sarman and sophomore Connor McClure to compete in the 200 medley relay where the Tigers won gold completing the race in 1:36.03. Junior Jacob Hurrell-Zitelman outswam opponents in the 1000 free finishing in 10:00.85 and freshman Charles Yuen edged competition in the 50 free in 22.10. On the boards, sophomore Daniel Valmassei took the 1-meter competition, scoring 349.20 and classmate Anothony Liva won the high-board with a score of 296.05.
Southwestern competed in a dual with UT-Permian Basin. For the Pirates, sophomore Matthew Overman touched first in the 1000 free clocking in at 10:09.93 and freshman Keith Gill earned a victory in the 100 fly finishing in 52.89. Senior Peter Robinson also finished first in the 500 free in 4:52.80.
SCAC men's swimming and diving action concludes on Saturday when University of the Ozarks takes on Henderson State in a dual.
