LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. –  Week eight of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's lacrosse schedule featured the first conference matchup of the season as Southwestern (8-5) and Johnson & Wales (1-7) went head-to-head.

The Pirates defeated the Wildcats 30-3 on Saturday. In the win, Southwestern featured a balanced attack as 15 different Pirates recorded a goal in the game and eight netting two or more. Senior attack Kai Knight-Turcan led the way with five goals and sophomore Zac Asbury contributed a game-high seven points on two goals and five assists. Sophomore Benjamin Libby tallied a career-best 4 goals while senior midfielders Everett Barger and Tyler Talley each recorded a hat-trick. For Johnson & Wales, senior attack Deshaunte Longley and juniors Matthew Sening and Coleton Threlkeld put away a goal, each. Freshman Alex Melitz managed the majority of minutes between the pipes for the Pirates, making two saves while allowing three goals in 31:36 minutes of play. On Friday, the Pirates fell, 16-13, to CSU-Pueblo. In the loss, Knight-Turcan scored four goals.

Colorado College (7-4) split its games last week, picking up a 12-8 victory over MIT on Monday but dropping a 19-9 decision to No. 14 Williams on Friday. On the week, senior Tyler Borko and sophomore John Sutro notched six points each with Borko tallying five goals and one assist and Sutro adding four goals and two assists. In the loss to Williams, junior Max Reiser matched a career-high to pace the Tigers, netting his second hat-trick of the season. During the two-game stretch, junior goaltender Andrew Harwood managed the majority of minutes for CC, making 27 saves in 112:56 minutes.

On Saturday, Dallas (0-7) fell to Columbia College as sophomore midfielder Jake Frederick collected the lone goal for the Crusaders.

The SCAC men's lacrosse schedule continues this week when Southwestern heads to Rhodes and Johnson & Wales hosts CSU-Pueblo.
