LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball teams secured their spots in the postseason, while the rest of the standings remain tight.
The Schreiner University Mountaineers (12-9, 9-1 SCAC) moved their winning streak to eight games after the weekend, defeating Texas Lutheran University and Southwestern University at home. Schreiner was the first team to secure a spot in the 2018 SCAC Men's Basketball Championship.
Centenary College followed the Mountaineers on Saturday, sweeping the weekend's opponents to earn their trip to Colorado Springs. The Gents double-overtime thriller against CC proved to be the deciding factor when the rest of the standings came out, putting them in sole possession of second place in the SCAC standings with a 7-4 leagure record.
Trinity University bounced back from a two-loss skid last weekend to sweep TLU and SU at home. The Tigers now sit at third in the conference standings with a 6-4 record, earning their trip to the tournament.
Dallas and Colorado College were the only other teams able to pick up a win over the weekend, each defeating Austin College on the road. Dallas sits fourth in the conference with a 6-5 record, while Colorado College follows in fifth at 5-6.
