Trinity Women Advance to Second Round of NCAA Tournament With 2-0 Win

-- The ninth-ranked Trinity University women earned a 2-0 win over 22nd-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor to advance to the second round of the 2017 NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament.

The Tiger defense held UMHB to just four total shots in the game, while five of Trinity's 11 total shots were on goal.

Chelsea Cole got the scoring started in the 16th minute, heading home a goal on a pass from Julia Camp to put Trinity in control early. 

Less than five minutes later, the Tigers added another goal as Hannah Booher's corner kick was headed into the net by Julia Kelly.

That proved to be the game's final score, despite the fact that Trinity had six shots and three corner kicks in the second half. 

The Tigers advanced to Sunday's second round and will take on the third-ranked host Hardin-Simmons University. The Cowgirls beat Methodist (NC) University 3-1 in Saturday's opener.

Trinity won its 19th consecutive game, and improved to 19-1-0 on the season. The Tigers also produced their 11th straight shutout win.

Chelsea Cole scored her team-leading 19th goal of the campaign, and a Trinity-best sixth game-winner. Cole has scored 31 goals in her career, and is in 18th place in the record books.

Julia Kelly now has 13 goals this season to improve her career total to 22 goals scored with the Tigers.

Hannah Booher chalked up her 17th assist of the the year, which is just one shy of tying for fourth place in Trinity's single-season record books.

Julia Camp has amassed 14 assists during the season and 28 in her career, and she is tied for 10th place on Trinity's all-time list.

The Tigers meet Hardin-Simmons in the second round at 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
