INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The NCAA released the selections for the 2018 Division III Swimming and Diving Championships and eight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference student-athletes made the cut.
Trinity University will be represented by three divers and four swimmers, while Southwestern University will send one swimmer.
For the Tigers, seniors Lindsay Hagmann and Lauren Cuda, along with sophomores Abbie Jones and Star Rosales will swim the 400-yard freestyle relay. Hagmann is also entered in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events.
Hagmann will compete in her fourth consecutive NCAA Championships meet. She earned All-America honors last year in the 100-yard freestyle, placing third in the race. Hagmann was also an Honorable Mention All-American in the 50-yard freestyle. In 2016, Hagmann finished seventh in the 100-yard freestyle to garner her first All-America accolades.
On the diving side, the Tigers will send two men, Daniel Valmassei and Anthony Liva, and one woman, Christine Peterson.
Representing Southwestern is Rehgan Hartsell, a freshman and the 2018 SCAC Swimmer of the Meet. Hartsell qualified in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events. In the short race, Hartsell qualified with a time of 1:03.63 which is 13th best. In the 200, her best time is 2:19.85. This ranks 16th in the nation heading into the event.
The 2018 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships will take place March 21-24 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis. Franklin College and the Indiana Sports Corporation will serve as co-hosts. A total of 579 participants (526 swimmers and 53 divers) will compete in the championships.
