DANIEL SANDERSON OF UNIVERSITY OF THE OZARKS, a senior from Clarksville, Ark., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets conducted from Friday, September 19 through Saturday, September 20. SCAC Cross Country Release (Week 4)
Sanderson finished as the team's top runner at the 8k Rhodes College Invitational competing against NCAA I, NCAA II, and NCAA III runners from across the Mid-South region. Sanderson posted a top-20 finish, placing 17th overall, running a 26:25.16. His time was a personal best.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Matthew Kangas of Concordia (TX) paced the Tornados at the Schreiner/Mountaineer Hill Country Invite with a 16th-place finish, crossing the line of the 8K course in 28:30.0. His efforts helped Concordia secure a sixth-place team finish. First-year Jayden Curry of Dallas posted a top 35 finish at the Schreiner/Mountaineer Hill Country Invite last Saturday, finishing 35th with a time of 30:16.1. It marked the first 8K race of his career and established a PR. Senior Owen Lien of Hendrix was the top Warrior finisher last weekend at the Missouri Southern State 36th Annual Stampede crossing the line of the 8K course in a time of 27:39.89. First-year Dominic Pardon of Schreiner secured a top-10 finish at the Mountaineers home Hill Country Invite last Saturday. Pardon placed ninth, crossing the line of the 8K course in 27:43.4 to lead Schreiner to a fourth-place team finish. His time was the second fastest 8K time in Mountaineers’ program history.
