JESSIE WRIGHT OF UNIVERSITY OF THE OZARKS (ARK.), a senior from Decatur, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during the meets swam Friday, November 7 & Saturday, November 8. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 5)
Wright won the 200 freestyle (2:03.77), 200 backstroke (2:17.84) and anchored the winning 200 freestyle relay (25.99) in the Ozarks (Ark.) McMurry dual. Her finishes helped the Eagles to a first place finish overall.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Morgan Stephenson of Asbury impressed on a back-to-back weekend. On Friday night against the University of the Cumberlands, Stephenson battled to a tough finish in the 200 IM going a 2:26.67 and swam in one round of the knockout style 50s, finishing the 50 FL with a time of 29.19. On the second leg of the back-to-back, she swam two season-best times taking second place in the 200 FL with a 2:31.03 and second place in the 200 IM with a 2:24.19 over two seconds faster than roughly 15 hours earlier. Her 200 FL and her 200 IM are the second fastest and third fastest times in the conference this year, respectively. First-year Lili Clepper of Austin College claimed an individual event win the 50 freestyle by .06 against Southwestern. She posted a season best time in the 100 fly and 50 free while leading off the 200 free relay to capture the early lead. Clepper also had a season best relay split in the 100 freestyle while anchoring the 400 medley relay. First-year Brooklynn Lizcano of McMurry won three individual events over the weekend. Against University of the Ozarks on Friday, the first-year took the top spot in 200 IM with a season best time of 2:28 and finished second in the 200n Breast narrowly edged out. On Saturday, she secured two first places finishes against Hendrix in the 400 IM and the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:17.22.
