JENNA PALOMAREZ OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a senior defensive specialist from Pearland, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for matches played from Tuesday, October 28th through Sunday, November 2nd. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 10)
Palomarez totaled 70 digs across three matches for a 5.38 digs per set average in a 2-1 week. Palomarez recorded 29 digs in a five-set win over Texas Lutheran and had no less than 20 in any of the three contests for the Mountaineers. The senior helped Schreiner to wins over TLU & St. Thomas (Tex.).
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Junior libero Meghan Gannon of Colorado College led the Tigers with 35 digs over two matches, averaging 5.00 per set. Gannon posted 22 digs in a four-set win over Schreiner and added six assists over the weekend. Junior libero Maddy Hirneise of LeTourneau totaled 61 digs across three matches, averaging 6.10 digs per set while averaging 7.00 digs per set in league play. Hirneise posted 26 digs against Howard Payne with 21 & 14 in sweeps of Austin College & Dallas, respectively. Sophomore defensive specialist Jalie Miller of McMurry contributed 48 digs for the War Hawks with 32 coming in a four-set loss to St. Thomas (Tex.). Miller averaged 8.00 digs per set against the Celts with a 4.80 mark per set for the week. First-year defensive specialist Lauralai Bradley of Ozarks (Ark.) was consistent with 14 digs in each of the two matches for the Eagles. Bradley added four assists and averaged 4.67 digs per set. Junior libero Carly Lange of St. Thomas (Tex.) totaled 62 digs with a 7.75 digs per set average over a 1-1 week for the Celts. Lange recorded 25 digs in a four-set loss to Schreiner before adding 37 digs in a four-set win over McMurry. Senior libero Richelle Guerra of Texas Lutheran contributed 58 digs for the Bulldogs across a pair of matches, averaging 6.44 digs per set. Guerra was consistent with 30 digs in a five-set loss to Schreiner and 28 in a four-set win over Concordia (Tex.).
