LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The regular season came to an emphatic close and Trinity wrapped up the No. 2 seed with a huge win over Southwetsern. However, the Pirates didn't fall too far down as they earned the No. 3 seed thanks to a Texas Lutheran win over Schreiner. Austin College benefited from that victory as well as they jumped into the No. 4 seed.

Austin College picked up its fourth straight
win and closed out the regular season on a high note, cruising past
visiting Centenary College 90-49 on Friday night in Hughey Gym. The
‘Roos head into the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
tournament with an overall record of 14-10 and a conference mark of
9-5. Christina Kime finished with 17 points on 4-of-5 shooting,
hitting both of her threes and 7-of-8 free throws, and handed out
three assists. Kendall Heitmeier scored 17 and grabbed five
rebounds, and Riley finished with 11 and six boards. In all, 12
different ‘Roos scored and the team shot 50.7% from the
field, including 57.6% in the second half. Austin College will take
on Schreiner in the first round of the SCAC Tournament
Centenary fell 90-49 at Austin College on Friday evening to close out the regular season. The Ladies (0-23, 0-14 SCAC) head into the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference as the eight seed to face top seeded Texas Lutheran on Friday, Feb. 28 at 2:00 p.m. Briana Edwards led the Maroon and White with 18 points and 18 rebounds gathering her 10th double-double of the season. Rhonda Martin added 13 points for the Ladies with 10 coming from Rebecca Thompson.
Colorado College continued its run of improved play by earning a split on the road last week. The Tigers erased an 18-point second-half deficit and take a 64-63 lead on Friday night, but Austin scored with a fraction under four seconds remaining to escape with a 74-72 victory. Sophomore forward Danielle Davis paced CC with 21 points. Junior guard Courtney Tyus finished with 14 points to become the 26th player in program history to score 700 or more. Sophomore guards Katie Wirth and Katie Waters added 12 apiece. The following night, Waters poured in a career-high 25 points to lead Colorado College to an 83-58 victory at Centenary. Waters and Tyus combined for 13 points during a 19-2 run that gave the Tigers an 18-point lead midway through the first half, and they were never seriously threatened. Korbyn Ukasick finished with 19 points and six rebounds, while Davis added 18 points and seven boards. Davis reached the 500-point milestone on a layup with 10:18 remaining in the game. Wirth grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds and dished out six assists. Colorado College plays host to the University of Dallas next Saturday in the final home game of the regular season.
Dallas closed-out conference-play with a 1-0 week. On Saturday, in Colorado Springs, Colo., the Lady Crusaders triumphed 58-49 over Colorado College. Head coach Jina Johansen’s squad enters the SCAC Championship Tournament as the No. 6 seed, and will battle No. 3 seed Southwestern on Friday at 8 p.m. in San Antonio, Texas.

Statistical leaders for Schreiner are SCAC points leader Sophomore Lindsey Peterson (17.1 ppg/6.9 rpg), Sophomore guard Kelsie Jackson (15.1 ppg), and Senior Bailey Harris (9.3 ppg). Schreiner will play Austin College in the first round of the SCAC Tournament.

Southwestern led by seven at the half, but the Tigers went on a 17-0 run in the second half to take the lead and SU could not recover. Chelsea Leeder led with 24 points while Annie Bourne posted 12 rebounds in the loss. Southwestern will enter the SCAC Conference Tournament as the #3 seed, facing the University of Dallas on Friday at 8 p.m. in San Antonio.
Texas Lutheran posted just the second 20-win women’s basketball season in school history and stretched their school-record win streak to 11 games with a 63-58 road victory Saturday over Schreiner University. Already assured the top seed for the upcoming Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship, the Bulldogs stuck to their winning ways in a tough, back-and-forth battle with the Mountaineers. In Schreiner’s Edington Center, the Bulldogs and Mountains traded leads five times, and the scored was tied seven times. Dalia Camargo scored a career-high 23 points with a career-high 10 field goals made. The senior guard hit 10 of her 14 shot attempts and made 3-of-4 free throws. Camargo’s previous career-high was nine points. She added three rebounds, an assist, and a steal against Schreiner. Karisa Cantu, TLU’s leading scorer, notched 13 of her 15 points in the second half. She was 5-for-5 from the field (and 1-for-1 from three-point line) in the second half.

The win put the Tigers into the SCAC Tournament as the second overall seed, avoiding the potential of falling down to fifth for this weekend’s event. Southwestern led by 10 points early in the second half, but a 17-0 run put the Tigers in control of the important conference matchup. Anecia Richardson scored 10 of the 17 points during the run, and finished with a stellar 24 points in the second half. She became the second Trinity player this season to score 30 in a game, finishing with 30 points on 12-18 shooting. Hannah Coley moved into the top 10 in Trinity history with 1,091 points in her career. She moved past Kathy Bieser (1993-97) on the all-time list. Coley also needs just one more three-point field goal to become the fourth Tiger player to record 50 or more three-pointers in a season. Richardson’s huge night also put her 21st in school history in scoring, having opened her career with back-to-back 400-point seasons. Her 421 points so far this season are the 13th-most ever at Trinity for a single season. Trinity will open up its part in the SCAC Tournament with a Quarterfinal matchup against Colorado College. The matchup between the two Tiger teams will be the third this season, with Trinity winning the first two. Trinity won 76-59 on the road, then took a 113-47 win at home this season.
