Trinity Moves Back into D3hoops.com Women's Top 25

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The Trinity University women's basketball team returns to the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll as they come in at No. 25 after a 2-0 conference weekend.

The Tigers staged a late second half surge to beat the Texas Lutheran 70-64 in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game on Friday night that featured two teams with identical 9-3 records as well as 1-0 SCAC records.

With the score tied at 51-51 with 9:41 remaining in the second half, Trinity outscored Texas Lutheran 19-13 down the stretch to capture the victory. Senior guard/forward Murphy Burns finished with 20 points and nine rebounds while sophomore post Anecia Richardson posted a 20 point, 10 rebound outing.

Trinity finished off a SCAC weekend sweep with a 75-52 victory over Schreiner University on Saturday night. It was the Mountaineers second lowest point total of the season.

Richardson registered her second double-double of the weekend, with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Richardson shot 10-17 from the field, and tied her season-high with four blocked shots.

The Tigers continues its SCAC campaign this weekend by hosting Centenary College at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17 in Sam's Gymnasium. They will then take on Austin College, a team who's a half game back of Trinity in the SCAC Standings, on Saturday at 6 p.m.
