ANTONIA LEESE OF SOUTHWESTERN, a first-year swimmer from Round Rock, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during meets swam Monday, January 22 to Sunday, January 28. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 11)
Leese picked up a pair of individual victories in Saturday's dual meet against UT-Permiain Basin. She touched first in the 100 breast with a winning time of 1:07.39 and also took top honors in the 200 IM with a finish of 2:21.59. Additionally, Leese split 29.6 in her breaststroke leg of the 200 medley relay.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Erin Morie of Trinity had a huge day on Saturday, that turned out to be the difference maker in the Tigers' securing a win over Division I University of the Incarnate Word. She started the day with a season-best 1650 time of 18:36.18 to finish second, and moved to second on this year's SCAC leaderboard in the event. Morie also posted a third-place finish and season-best time of 5:29.54 in the 500 freestyle. She rounded out her day with a third-place finish in the 400 IM (4:49.49). Sophomore Maddy Rohrer of McMurry led the War Hawks with four event wins over the weekend against St. Thomas. She posted first-place finishes in the 100 Free (winning by six seconds), 50 Free, 100 breast, and 200 breast. First-year Kelsy Elgar of St. Thomas led the Celt quartet at the team's conference dual meet against McMurry. She posted victories in the 200 back (2:24.98) and in 100 back (1:06.12), where she trailed up until the final seconds. Elgar also finished second in the 200 free (2:13.67). Sophomore Chloe Weathers of University of the Ozarks took first in the 50 breast (36.87), 100 breast (1:18.54), and 50 fly (30.83) in Saturday's senior day dual meet victory against Williams Baptist. She also swam the breaststroke leg of the winning 200 medley relay in 36.68.
