University of St. Thomas is the defending champion on the men's side while Texas Lutheran University is the reigning champion on the women's side. 

On the men's side, St. Thomas defeated Trinity, 58-53, in overtime to earn the program's third SCAC tournament championship and first since 2022. With the victory, the Celts improved to 3-0 all-time in the title game.  

For the women, Texas Lutheran cruised to a 73-63 victory over Trinity as the Bulldogs locked down their first SCAC championship since 2019 and third overall. TLU also won a league title in 2014. 

Competition at the 2026 SCAC Basketball Championships begins on Friday, February 27 with four games. The first men's quarterfinal, which will pit the No. 2 seed from the Blue Division and the No. 3 seed from the Gold Division, tips at Noon CT followed by the second men's quarterfinal (No. 2 Gold seed vs. No. 3 Blue seed) at 2 p.m. In the evening session, the women's quarterfinals are scheduled for 5 p.m. (No. 2 Blue seed vs. No. 3 Gold seed) and 7 p.m. (No. 2 Gold seed vs. No. 3 Blue seed).

Saturday will see the Division winners on both the men's and women's side take on Friday's winners in semifinal action (same game times from Friday) and Sunday's championshps games are scheduled for Noon and 2 p.m.
