LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The first full week of the 2021 SCAC women's lacrosse season kicked off with two of the league’s three teams in action.

Southwestern University (1-1) opened its 2021 season on the road last Saturday, dropping a 17-13 decision at Hendrix. The Pirates regrouped six days later and defeated Midland University, 22-10, in their home-opener Friday night. Southwestern dominated draw controls possessions by winning 24 while Midland won seven. Emma Pertuit had a team-high 14 ground balls and Raven Garcia led the Pirates with seven goals and two assists. Deanna Hame scored four goals, took 13 ground balls and had one assist. 

University of Dallas (0-1) opened its season with a 15-7 loss to the same Midland squad on Saturday. Emily Pauletti had a team-high four goals for the Crusaders and Lizzy Elfet chipped in with a pair of scores. Kathleen Rodda had 13 saves in net for UD.

SCAC women’s lacrosse action will continue when Southwestern and Dallas host Piedmont (Ga.) College on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
