LENNY FORTH OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a junior outfielder from Flower Mound, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week of the Week for games played from Monday, April 14 through Sunday, April 20. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 11
Forth was red-hot for the Diamond Gents in their series win at home over Dallas as he finished a sizzling 8-for-11 (.727) with a .750 OBP and slugged a whopping 1.273 with eight RBI, a home run, three doubles, and seven runs scored. Forth also stole two bases and did not strike out in his 11 at-bats all weekend. Forth was 4-for-4 with a career-high five RBI, four runs scored, and a pair of doubles in a 14-1 win in game two of a DH on Friday and finished 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, a home run, and a double in Saturday’s series finale.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior infielder Aaron Gomez of Concordia led the charge in a series sweep over TLU as he exploded for team-highs of a .667 batting average, .714 on-base percentage with eight hits (four XBH), and six runs scored. In game one, Gomez was perfect at the plate with a 5-5 performance (4 RBI, 2 runs) where he tied a program-record with three doubles and connected on his second homer of the season. Gomez finished the week with five RBI, three doubles, one home run and an impressive 1.167 slugging percentage. First year infielder Collin Bruning of McMurry was outstanding in leading the War Hawks to a perfect 4-0 record, including an SCAC sweep on the road at Ozarks. Bruning hit .421 (8-for-19) with two doubles, two home runs, nine RBI, three runs scored and two walks. He finished the week with an impressive .476 on base percentage and a .842 slugging percentage. Junior outfielder Taber Childs of Ozarks hit .500 with four doubles and two RBI over four games. Childs also stole two bases while owning a .786 slugging percentage and posting a 1.000 fielding percentage. Junior outfielder Rey Izaguirre of St. Thomas paced the Celts at the plate last week, posting a .444 batting average (8-for-18) with four runs scored, three RBU, two double and two triples. Izaguirre also added a pair of walks to post a .524 on-base percentage and finished the week with a .778 slugging percentage. Senior catcher James Vaquero of Southwestern went 8-for-18 (.444) at the plate last week, with si runs scored and two doubles. Vaquero walked twice to post a .524 on-base percentage and stole three bases. Junior first baseman Drew Burnett of Texas Lutheran batted .333 at the plate last week, going 2-for-6 with a double, a triple, two RBI and one run scored to lead the Bulldogs during their three-game series on the road at Concordia. Senior utility plater Kai Tinker of Trinity led the Tigers to a 4-0 record last week, which included a run-rule win over Mary Hardin-Baylor and a three-game SCAC road weekend sweep at St. Thomas. Tinker batted .579 (11-for-19) over the week, scoring seven runs to go with eight RBI. Tinker batted .600 (9-for-15) in conference play against the Celts, scoring all seven of his runs and six of his eight RBI. He had at least two hits in all four games, doing most of his damage in the last two games of the UST series.
