ALEX BOZHILOV OF UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a first-year from Sofia, Bulgaria, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, February 24 through Sunday, March 2. SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 1
Competing against 39 athletes in the 5000 meters that included NCAA Divsion II athletes at the Southwestern/CenTex Invitational, Bozhilov placed first with a time of 14:56.01. This breaks the school record by almost a minute set back in 2006.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Legend Grisby of Trinity was the top collegiate finisher in the 100 and 200 at the Southwestern/CenTex Invitational. His marks of 10.87 and 22.02 currently lead the conference. Legend also ran the lead off leg in the 4x100 that took third (41.98). Sophomore Ethan Ladipo of St. Thomas ran the second leg of the Celts' 4x100 relay to secure a fourth place finish in a time of 42.09 at Saturday's Southwestern/CenTex Invitational. He then went on to finish third in the 100 meters, setting a new personal best of 10.89. Junior Daniel Sanderson of Ozarks finished 13th in the 1500 meters with a school record time of 4:08.17 at the Hendrix College Invitational. Senior Thomas Hughes of Concordia (Texas) notched a new personal-best time of 2:14.36 in the 800 meters and also secured a third-place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase (10:28.83) in his season debut at the Southwestern/CenTex Invitational. First-year Braylen Brown of Texas Lutheran was the top collegiate finisher in the 400 meters at the Southwestern/CenTex Invite, with a time of 48.19. His time places him fifth nationally. Brown also ran lead off leg for the 4x400 team that finished first and is second nationally. Sophomore Sean Dansby of Schreiner competed at the Southwestern/CenTex Invitational, posting a 14th-place finish in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:16.17. He also ran in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.81, placing fifth. Both runs were PR's and new school records.
