SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Three down and five to go folks! Day three of #SCAC8in8 is complete and it definitely did not disappoint. James and I headed to San Antonio, Texas to experience gameday at Trinity University.

We started things off by meeting with men’s soccer head coach, Paul McGinlay. Coach McGinlay talked with us about his history and how he came to Trinity University from England. We learned about his recruiting philosophy and how he has brought in international student-athletes to his program, which now represents nine different countries on his team.

James and I then met up with some fellow SIDs, Justin Parker and Josh Moczygemba. Parker and Moczygemba took us around Trinity’s campus and showed us their immaculate athletic facilities.

Afterwards, the athletic department let James and I have a little fun with their Tiger mascot suits. We took notes from Louie the Bulldog (Texas Lutheran University’s mascot) and Monty the Mountain Lion (Schreiner University’s mascot), so we knew exactly what we were doing… or so we thought. We found Head Football Coach Steve Mohr in his office and talked to him about the rich football tradition of Trinity Univeristy as well as how things have been going in 2013. Though the Tigers have been bitten by the injury bug, Coach Mohr didn't let that count as any sort of excuse as they continue to push forward. He also didn't hesitate to ask and remind James, a Millsaps graduate, about a certain miracle that occured in Jackson, Miss. in 2007.

Right before the game, James had the chance to interview James Hill. No folks, James did not interview himself; there is in fact two James Hills in the SCAC. Crazy, I know! But I learned from James Hill, that when you have two James Hills you CANNOT go wrong.

The women’s soccer team was not as recognizable in their pink uniforms, but definitely played like the No. 4 team in the country. The Tigers came away with a 4-0 victory over Our Lady of the Lake on Trinity’s senior night.

During the game, we spoke with Trinity University’s Athletic Director, Bob King. He welcomed us to Trinity University and was very excited to have the #SCAC8in8 tour on campus. He mentioned to us about Trinity’s future plans to renovate their baseball field and football stadium. Then he hooked us up with some delicious burgers and tater tots from Bombay Bicycle Club aka Bays, which is a local favorite restaurant within walking distance from campus.

Day three of #SCAC8in8 was another huge success. We will be hitting the road for day four in Irving, Texas on the campus of University of Dallas where we will be experiencing the Crusaders’ volleyball gameday at 4 and 8 pm tomorrow night. So put on your blue and white and come find us!
