SKILLMAN, N.J. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference had seven women's teams and three men's teams earn Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) honors for the 2010-11 academic year. A total of 35 female and 27 male student-athletes from the conference were also named Division III Scholar-Athletes.

Trinity's 2008 Championship Game Rally Selected Top SCAC Baseball Moment
SUWANEE, Ga. - At the 2008 SCAC Championship, Millsaps College stood poised to become just the third baseball team in league history to win two games on championship Sunday and come out of the loser's bracket to earn a conference title. Millsaps, who had forced the "if necessary" contest by defeating Trinity University, 10-5, in Sunday's first game, was leading game two 5-2 heading into the bottom of the ninth. The Majors were just three outs away from their seventh conference baseball title and a berth in the NCAA tournament.

SCAC Has Nation-High 13 Honored as 2010-2011 NGCA All-American Scholars
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) placed a nation-high 13 individuals on the 2010-2011 National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholars Team. A total of 566 women’s collegiate golfers from Divisions I, II and III were recognized with this prestigious honor.

DePauw's 2007 NCAA Finals Appearance Selected Top SCAC Softball Moment
SUWANEE, Ga. - The SCAC had sponsored women's softball as an official conference sport since 1999, and, beginning in 2000, its champion had received an automatic berth into the NCAA championships. From 2000 to 2006, SCAC softball teams had limited success in NCAA postseason play, sporting a mark of 5-14 in regional play. But in 2007, a freshman pitcher from Carmel, Ind., would help change all that.

Major Changes for the SCAC Following 2011-12 Academic Year
SUWANEE, Ga. – In an expected announcement made today at the annual spring meeting of the league’s Board of Directors, the Presidents of Birmingham-Southern College, Centre College, Hendrix College, Millsaps College, Oglethorpe University, Rhodes College and Sewanee-The University of the South declared their intent to withdraw from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference effective June 30, 2012.

Jones' 2009 Triple Jump Title Named Top SCAC Men's Track & Field Moment
SUWANEE, Ga. - On the final day of competition, Centre College's Chrys Jones set a new Don Drumm Stadium record with his winning triple jump at the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Track & Field Championships. The sophomore sensation jumped 50 feet, 3 1/4 inches to earn the national title in the event, the first-ever for a Centre student-athlete.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Birmingham-Southern Athletics Director Joe Dean Jr. today announced the resignation of the college’s head men’s basketball coach Mitch Cole to accept an assistant coach position at a major conference NCAA Division I school. Dean said that an announcement of Cole's hiring is expected soon by his new institution.

Max Frey's NCAA Singles Run Ends in Semifinals
CLAREMONT, Calif. – Trinity University Tigers junior Max Frey lost a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 battle in the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships Singles semifinals Saturday to fourth seeded Chris Goodwin of Emory. It marked the first time a Trinity player advanced to the NCAA semifinals since 2005, when Jim Shaughnessy achieved that feat.

DePauw Doubles Team Drops NCAA Quarterfinal Match; Earns All-America Honors
CLAREMONT, Calif. - DePauw's top doubles team of Janelle Arita and Kelly Gebert bowed out of the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships with a quarterfinal loss. The Tigers' tandem dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision to Amherst's fourth-seeded dup of Jordan Brewer and Gabby Devlin. Arita and Gebert finished the 2010-11 season with a 29-9 doubles record and, by advancing to the quarterfinals, earned all-America honors.

Long time Rhodes College football coach passes away
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Coach John Whittaker, who served as a part-time Assistant Football Coach for Rhodes College since 1987, passed away peacefully in his sleep early Tuesday morning. Better known as Coach Whit to Lynx football players, Whittaker has been a fixture on the Rhodes sideline, serving as Coach Gordon Ellingsworth's assistant with the offensive line.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Trinity University, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champions, earned the program's sixth appearance in the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. GEORGETOWN, Texas - This spring break, 18 Southwestern University soccer players will be spending their time off traveling to El Salvador, playing soccer and working on service projects needed in the area. University of Dallas to Join the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
SUWANEE, Ga. — The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) announced today that the University of Dallas has accepted an invitation to join the Conference. Currently a Division III independent, Dallas will join the SCAC at the beginning of the 2011-12 academic year.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference had three teams ranked in the 2010 AVCA Division III Coaches Top 25 Preseason Poll, it was announced this afternoon by the AVCA headquarters. Colorado College is ranked fifth, Trinity University is 12th and reigning conference champion Southwestern University is ranked 16th.
