Maria Cowley, Rhodes College, Field Hockey (Co-Defensive)
MARIA
COWLEY OF RHODES COLLEGE, a senior defender
from Louisville, Ky., has been selected as the SCAC Field Hockey
Co-Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played Monday,
September 1 through Sunday, September 7.
Cowley anchored the defense from the center back
and sweeper positions all weekend which included playing all 75
minutes in Sunday's win over Washington and Lee.
Cowley had a spectacular defense save that kept
the Generals off the board early and helped facilitate offensive
play from the middle of the field as well.
Cowley, a Lynx co-captain, has had a key role in
the Lynx 4-0 start this season, which includes three shutout
victories.
