MEGAN KRIECHBAUM OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore right-hander from Cedar Hills, Utah, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, April 14 through Sunday, April 20. SCAC Softball Release - Week 11
Kriechbaum finished off the Tigers’ three-game SCAC weekend sweep against Centenary with a complete-game victory. Kriechbaum pitched a two-hit shutout in a 6-0 victory for the Tigers, walking just two batters and recording 10 strikeouts to tie her career-high. She improved to 6-2 this season with a 2.35 ERA, finishing off her fourth complete-game shutout this weekend. Kriechbaum has recorded 71 strikeouts in 59.2 innings and notched 10 K’s for the second time this season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First year Jordan Hodges of Ozarks tossed a three-hitter to lift the Eagles past McMurry, 3-2, on Friday. Hodges issued just one walk in the win and allowed just two base runners through five complete innings. Junior Anyssia Mendoza of Schreiner made a pair of appearance last week in the circle, highlighted by her complete game shutout victory at Southwestern last Thursday. Mendoza went seven innings, scattering just three hits and steiking out two without allowing a single run in the Mountaineers 6-0 victory. Sophomore Victoria Sossaman of St. Thomas earned a pair of wins in the circle last week to help the Celts secure a three-game series sweep against Austin College at home. Sossaman tossed a pair of complete games, including all 11 innings in the Celts walk-off win over the ‘Roos in extras to open the series on Thursday. For the week, Sossaman tossed 16 innings, scattering 10 hits, allowing just three earned runs and struck out 12 batters. She issued six walks to post a 1.00 WHIP on the week to go along with her 1.31 ERA. Junior Ainsley Davis of Texas Lutheran tossed a complete game shutout as she stymied Dallas over five innings of work to help the Bulldogs secure a series sweep over the Crusaders to close out the home regular season schedule. In her seventh win of the season, she allowed just two hits and two walks as Dallas managed just one ball that left the infield. Davis lowered her ERA to a SCAC-leading 0.72 on the season, ranking sixth nationally.
