DUNCAN KEEGAN
OF HENDRIX COLLEGE, a junior from Signal
Mountain, Tenn., has been selected the SCAC Character &
Community Male Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending
November 28, 2010.
Keegan, a forward on the men's soccer team and a
recent all-SCAC honoree, will travel this upcoming summer to South
Africa for 10 days to work with children in the Bongimfundo Primary
School, located in a rural township just outside of Durban.
The past summer, Keegan worked with the Widows
Harvest Ministry in Chattanooga, Tenn. He also interned
for the Miller Center, a non-profit organization that cares for
elderly widows, and did maintenance work on homes. This
included mowing lawns, repairing siding, roofing, and building
wheelchair ramps.
The Miller Center would host church youth groups and schools from
around the country. Keegan would lead groups
of middle and high school students anywhere from a day to a
week at various jobsites, teaching the importance of helping in the
community.
