LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference placed two women's basketball players on the All-South Region team released Monday.
SCAC Women's Player-of-the-Year, Bryce Frank of Austin College, earned First Team honors for the second consecutive year while Abby Holland of Trinity University was selected to the Second Team.
Frank, a five-time SCAC Player-of-the-Week and three-time D3hoops.com National Team of the Week selection, the senior led the SCAC in both scoring (19.1 points per game) and rebounding (11.2 per game), becoming just the fourth player in league history to lead in both categories in a single season and the first since 2004-05. She finished the season tied for the national lead in double-doubles (22), and broke the SCAC career (55) and single season marks for double-doubles while helping the 'Roos to a 20-6 overall record. Franks finished her career ranked third in SCAC history in rebounds and ninth in scoring. This weekend, she will head to Salem, Virginia to participate in the inaugural Beyond Sports Women's Collegiate All-Star Game.
Holland, who earlier was selected to the All-SCAC First Team for the second year in a row, became Trinity's all-time single-game leading scorer as she pumped in 43 points in a home SCAC game with Schreiner. She scored 493 points during the season and eclipsed the 1,000 career-points plateau. Holland led the Tigers with 18.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, and was tops with 75 steals in her column. The sharp-shooting junior also connected on 50.6 percent of her shots from the field. In a tournament semifinal win against Colorado College, Holland poured in a new conference tourney record of 38 points en route to earning All-Tournament recognition.
