SCAC Announces 2013 Women's Basketball Tournament Bracket

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The SCAC office today announced the bracket for the 2013 men's basketball tournament, which will be begin Friday, Feb. 22 in Sherman, Texas. Tournament Bracket | Official Tournament Website | Hoops Weekly - Tournament Edition

Austin College is serving as host of this year's event.

Trinity University, who posted a perfect 15-0 conference mark (21-4 overall), earned the top for this weekend's event. The Tigers are currently ranked seventh in the South Region and are looking for the program's first conference tournament championship since 2005.

Southwestern University (12-3 SCAC / 18-7 overall) is the second seed and, along with Trinity, earned a first-round bye in this year's event. The 18 overall wins are the most by the Pirates since they joined the SCAC prior to the 1994-95 season

Women's quarterfinal action gets underway on Friday afternoon as the No. 4 seed Centenary College (5-10 SCAC / 6-18 overall) takes on University of Dallas (4-11 SCAC / 11-14 overall), the No. 5 seed. Centenary is making its SCAC tournament debut.

Friday's final quarterfinal contest will pit the No. 3 seed and host school Austin College (5-10 SCAC / 11-14 overall) against the No. 6 seed Colorado College (4-11 SCAC / 4-21 overall).

Two ties had to be broken for seeding purposes. Austin College earned the third seed over Centenary College by virtue of the 'Roos 2-1 mark in head-to-head contests against the Ladies this season.

Similiarly, the University of Dallas earned the fifth seed over Colorado College by virtue of winning two-of-three contests against the Tigers this season.

Friday - Quarterfinals at Austin College
1 p.m. CT - #4 Centenary vs. #5 University of Dallas
3 p.m. CT - #3 Austin College vs. #6 Colorado College

Saturday - Semifinals at Austin College
1 p.m. CT - #1 Trinity vs. Winner of 1 p.m. Quarterfinal
3 p.m. CT - #2 Southwestern vs. Winner of 3 p.m. Quarterfinal

Sunday - Finals at Austin College
Noon CT - Winner 1 p.m. Semifinal vs. Winner 3 p.m. Semifinal
