MICHAEL
SCHWANDT OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior on the
men's swimming team from The Woodlands, Texas, has been
selected the SCAC Character & Community Male
Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending February 24,
2013.
Schwandt, a team captain for the Centenary
men’s swim team, is best described as a “team
player” and “very unselfish” by his coaches as he
is constantly supportive of his teammates.
His head coach Butch Jordan said, referring to the just completed
2013 SCAC Swimming & Diving Championship meet, “I think
he was more excited for Ross Olivier for winning the Swimmer of the
Meet Award than was Ross.”
Schwandt is involved in the Christian Learning
Center, and is described as one of the most valuable scorers for
the Gents’ swim team.
His win in the 100 individual medley in a dual against
Southwestern (Jan. 26) gave the Gents a chance to win the meet, and
he then anchored the relay that did indeed provide the winning
margin.
