DAVID LANGSTON
OF BIRMINGHAM-SOUTHERN
COLLEGE, a 6-0, 175-pound senior wide receiver from
Holt, Fla., has been selected the SCAC Football Special Teams
Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 4.
Langston scored two of BSC's four touchdowns - one
on a punt return and one on a kickoff return - in Saturday's 28-19
victory over LaGrange.
With 4:54 to go before the half, and immediately after his 85-yard
punt return had been nullified due to
penalty, Langston scooped up the
LaGrange punt on the bounce, eluded a defender, and raced untouched
86 yards down the right sideline for the Panthers first touchdown
of the game. It was the longest in BSC history, topping his
previous record long return of 68 yards against Sewanee last
season.
Langston would get the second half started with a
bang, returning the opening kickoff a school-record 89 yards for
his second touchdown of the day which gave the Panthers a 14-0
lead.
Langston broke the single-game punt return
yardage record with his 142 return yards, and also led the team
with 255 all-purpose yards.
