Women's XC Recap (Week 4) - Around the SCAC

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Five of the eight SCAC women's cross country teams were in action this past weekend.

Centenary College
The Centenary Ladies competed at the Mook 5 Invitational in Ruston, La., finishing fourth on the day. Kayla Thornhill finished 38th with a time of 27:37.90. Christy Wolterman finished one spot back of Thornhill with a time of 27:51.80 with Catherine Shackelford in 40th with a time of 27:57.90. The Ladies will compete next weekend at the Ken Garland Invitational in Denton, Texas.

Colorado College
Led by a 21st-place finish by sophomore Allie Crimmins, the Colorado College women's cross country team posted a fifth-place finish Saturday at the 2014 CC Invitational in North Monument Valley Park. Crimmins, running in her first meet of the season, knocked off nearly a minute off her time from the same race last year with a 6k time of 24 minutes and 53 seconds. Senior Rebecca Lavietas followed in 24th place among the 47 scoring collegiate runners with a time of 25:11, while sophomore Katie Sandfort posted a time of 25:19, good for a 26th-place finish. The Tigers run at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla., next Saturday.

University of Dallas
The University of Dallas Women's cross country team placed fifth in the East Texas Invite last weekend. Senior Clare Myers upped her fastest time to a season-best 19:25.9. The senior racer led the Lady Crusaders with a ninth place finish, her second top-ten of the campaign. Myers previously posted 19:37 minute races in the first two competitions this year. Dallas competes in the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warrior Invite on Oct. 4th. Location is set to be in West Allis, Wisconsin. 

Texas Lutheran University
The Texas Lutheran women's cross country teams finsihed in sxith place of the non-Division I category at the UTSA Ricardo Romo Classic this past weekend. TLU Women's Cross Country scored 136 points. The Bulldogs were led by Sarah Fritzsche, who finished 78th overall with a time of 21:02. Fritzsche was 14th among non-DI runners. Jasmine Medrano and Haley Cortez finished in the second and third spots for TLU with times of 21:17 and 23:01, respectively. The TLU women will be in action next weekend as they travel to Boston, Mass. for the Codfish Bowl.

Trinity University
The Trinity Tigers women’s cross country team won the Non-Division I title Friday night at the UTSA/Ricardo Romo ClassicFour Trinity women’s runners placed in the top-10 standings in the 5,000-meters event, led by senior Michelle Oberndorf’s fourth-place finish (19:32.8). First-year runner Melissa Whitman came in at No. 7 (19:57.7), senior Genevieve Primeau was ninth (20:27.1), and first-year Lexi Phelps posted a 10th-place finish (20:30.2). Trinity’s teams will compete October 4 at the Chile Pepper Invitational at Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Austin College, Schreiner, and Southwestern did not compete this weekend.
