LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Three of the league's women's golf teams finished up regular season play prior to the SCAC Championships - taking to the Berry Creek Country Club Course in Georgetown, Texas for the West Region Invitational.
The Southwestern women walked away with top honors on their home course, firing a two-round total of 640 to squeak by second-place Mary Hardin-Baylor. The Pirates were led by Madison Goldberg, who took second place on the individual leaderboard after rounds of 76 and 79 to finish at 155 (+8). Four more Southwestern players placed in the top 10, including Linsey Garza (78-81--159), Ryleigh Erickson (89-77--166), Katherine Montgomery (80-86--166) and Madison Miller (85-83--168).
The Schreiner women finished fifth at the West Region Invitational with a team score of 755. Katelyn Smith led the way for the Mountaineers with a 17th-place finish after rounds of 89 and 85 for a two-day total of 174 (+32).
Texas Lutheran did not field enough golfers to score by Wynter Flores was tops among the Bulldog entrants, carding rounds of 91 and 87 to finish at 178 and tied for 21st place.
The 2021 SCAC Women's Golf Championship begins on Monday, April 19 and runs through Tuesday, April 20. This year's event will once again be played at Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco, Texas. Click here for this year's official championship website.
