MURPHY BURNS
OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior guard/forward from
Oklahoma City, Okla., has been named SCAC Women’s Basketball
Player-of-the-Week for games played Tuesday, January 1 through
Sunday, January 6.
Burns led the Trinity Tigers to a 2-0 SCAC
weekend of play, keeping the team tied atop the conference
standings with a 4-0 record.
Burns averaged 18.5 points/game over the weekend, sinking 44% (11-25) from the field and 84.6% (11-13) from the foul line in the two wins. She hit 4-10 three-pointers this weekend, but hit 4-8 in the finale against Colorado College.
For the season, Burns leads the team with 19.2 points/game, and is also averaging 3.8 rebounds/game. She has scored on 44.3% of her shots (89-201) and 36.5% (31-85) of her three-point attempts. Burns is also shooting 77.4% (41-53) from the free throw line this season.
