SYDNEYFRIDAY OF
TRINITYUNIVERSITY, a
junior right-hander from Sugar Land, Texas, has been selected the
SCAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday,
February 27 through Sunday, March 4.
Friday went 1-1 over the past week, but her loss came
against Division II Incarnate Word to start off a week against
tough competition. Friday allowed just two earned
runs in 13 innings pitched over the week, striking out eight, and
walking just two batters. She tossed a five-hit shutout
against NAIA school Our Lady of the Lake in the final game of the
week, pitching Trinity to a doubleheader sweep.
Friday gave up a total of 14 hits and four runs
– only two earned – in the two games.
For the season, Friday leads the team with a 1.37
ERA, and holds a record of 4-3 in her seven games pitched.
She has thrown a complete game in all seven of her starts, and
Wednesday was her second shutout of the season.
Friday has struck out 26 batters in 46 innings,
and is holding opponents to a .224 batting average this year.
