HALEIGH GARCIA OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Three Rivers, Texas, has been named the SCAC Field Athlete of the Week for meets held Monday, March 21st through Sunday March 27th.
Garcia won the triple jump at the War Hawk Invitational. She jumped 11.17 (36-7 3/4) to win the event and currently sits in second place for the SCAC in that event. She also placed 4th in the long jump with a mark of 5.25 (17-2 3/4) and 5th in the high jump at 1.48 (4-10 1/4). She is ranked number two in the SCAC in both the long and high jumps.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Stella Affognon of Trinity University threw a PR in the the javelin at the McMurry WarHawk Classic with a throw of 24.27m. Stella also threw 9.46m in the shot put at the McMurry Warhawk Classic.
