LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Senior track athlete Jaclyn Newell and senior field athlete Kelsey Oelze of Trinity University have been named SCAC Track and Field Athletes of the Week after impressive performances this past weekend.

JACLYN NEWELL OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a senior
from Frankfort, Ill., has been selected the SCAC Track
Athlete-of-the-Week for meets through Sunday, March 23rd.
Newell led the Tiger women’s track
& field team at the Texas A&M-Kingsville Cactus Cup over
the weekend.
Newell won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a
time of 11:38.84, placing her ninth in Division III this season.
The time was a season-best as well for the Trinity senior.
Trinity will be back in action this weekend, hosting the Tiger
Relays on Friday.

KELSEY OELZE OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a senior from
Phoenix, Ariz., has been selected the SCAC Field
Athlete-of-the-Week for meets through Sunday, March 23rd.
Oelze led Trinity’s women’s team
at the Texas A&M-Kingsville Cactus Cup over the weekend.
Oelze finished second in the javelin with a throw
of 37.97 meters, as well as throwing 28.45 meters in the discus
throw. Her shot put mark of 10.63 meters was a season-best for the
senior standout.
Trinity resumes its schedule by hosting the Tiger Relays on Friday.
