Southwestern University Three-peats as SCAC Women's Golf Champions

TUNICA, Miss. - The Southwestern University women made it three straight conference titles at the 2009 SCAC Golf Championships which concluded on Sunday at Tunica National Golf Course.

The Pirates cruised to a 72-shot win, the second-largest margin of victory in SCAC women's championships history.

Southwestern's Marisa Mauldin, a senior from Utopia, Texas, fired a a three-day total of 233 to win her third consecutive SCAC Women's Golfer of the Year honor.

Mauldin becomes the second player in league history to accomplish the individual three-peat, following Sarah Gates of DePauw University who finished atop the leaderboard at the 2004, 2005 and 2006 championships.

Joining Mauldin on the 2009 All-SCAC team from Southwestern were teammates Emily Bartholet, Cody Wallace and Kristen Davenport.

The conference championship is the fifth overall for Southwestern, tying DePauw for the most by a women's program in league history.
