MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference had three student-athletes and one relay team earn All-American honors after the first day of competition at the 2009 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
Highlighting the All-American selections was the Trinty University diving duo of sophomore Haley Emerick and junior Lindsay Martin. Both were named All-Americans after Emerick placed third in the women's 3-meter with a score of 467.80 and Martin placed fifth posting a score of 456.80.
DePauw University junior John Cook earned Honorable Mention All-American honors in the men's 50 free. Cook posted a ninth-place finish with a time of 20.17. The time also broke his own previous school record.
The Centre College women's 200 Medley Relay team of Colleen Maggard (freshman), Meredith Angel (junior), Elisabeth Starr (senior), and Lauren Gates (sophomore) swum a 1:47.48. to earn Honorable Mention All-American and finished in 14th-place.
Other highlights included Centre's Angel swimming a 23.85 in the women's 50 free. The time was just short, by four-hundreths of a second, of All-American honors.
The DePauw men sit in 20th-place with nine points after day one. On the women's side, Trinity is tied for eighth-place with 30 points while Centre is tied for 28th-place with 6 points.
