SCAC Women's Basketball Recap - Week One

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The 2016-17 SCAC women's basketball season tipped off on Tuesday with the league posting an 8-10 mark in the opening week of action.

Trinity University is the league's only remaining undefeated team as the Tigers opened with dominating wins over two American Southwest Conference opponents. Trinity defeated McMurry University, 72-53, on opening night and LeTourneau University, 83-63, on Sunday.

Austin College and Centenary College both posted 2-1 marks. After a 78-50 loss at UT-Dallas on Tuesday night, the 'Roos bounced back with victories over Millsaps College, 62-60, and Hendrix College, 79-62, at the SCAC/SAA Challenge in Jackson, Miss. In Saturday's come-from-behind victory against Hendrix, Austin College overcame a 10-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter.

Centenary College opened with a 70-64 victory at East Texas Baptist before splitting games at the SCAC/SAA Challenge. The Ladies scored four points in three seconds to defeat Hendrix 67-65 on Saturday before dropping a 76-64 decision to Millsaps the following day.
