VENY PIZANA OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore right handed pitcher Odem, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played through Sunday, March 29th.

Pizana did not allow an earned run and won both of her SCAC starts last week against Trinity University to improve Texas Lutheran's win streak to a school-record 19 games.

For the season, Pizana picked up pitching victories in games 2 and 4 of the series. In game 2, she struck out four and allowed five hits in six innings. In game four, she tossed a complete-game (seven innings) and allowed just three hits.

Pizana is now 7-2 on the season and is second in the SCAC with a 1.13 ERA and opponents batting average at .197, fourth in wins, and fifth in strikeouts with 31. Pizana, along with Taylor Grissom, Samantha Yenne, and Kimberly Leschber lead the SCAC in pitching with a team ERA of 1.81. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore pitcher Cozette Palmer of Southwestern earned one win in four starts with a 3.85 ERA. In 20 innings of action she allowed 11 earned runs on 20 hits while walking seven and striking out 10. Junior pitcher Katie Castillon of Trinity went 1-2 in four appearances last week, highlighted by the first shutout of the season for the Tigers, tossing a complete-game six-hitter to beat NAIA Our Lady of the Lake University. Austin College, Centenary, Dallas, and Schreiner did not nominate anyone.
