LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- SCAC Softball action returned last week after a winter storm wreaked havoc and forced cancellations and postponements for 35 contests across the league. Six of the eight SCAC teams were in action last week as the conference combined to post a 10-9 record against non-conference foes.

Centenary (5-2) posted a 3-2 record last week, sweeping Hendrix in a doubleheader last Thursday and dropping two of three in a set against Millsaps. Freshman Mackenzie Cox led the way at the plate for the Ladies, posting a .357 batting average (5-for-14) with two runs scored, one RBI, three walks and two stolen bases. Cox also finished the week with a 1.000 fielding percentage and a .500 on-base percentage. In the circle, junior Ashley Hunter started and picked up both wins over the Warriors. She pitched 11 innings, scattered nine hits, and struck out seven in the doubleheader.

Texas Lutheran improved to 4-2 on the season after going 3-1 last week following a twin bill sweep over Mary Hardin-Baylor and splitting a pair of games against Div. II St. Edwards. Ashlyn Strother was solid for the Bulldogs, picking up a win again UMHB and throwing a complete game in a win over St. Edwards. Strother tossed nine innings and allowed just three runs, while striking out 11. At the plate, Rebecca Snow drove in 12 runs in the four games, including grand slams in back-to-back games against St. Edwards. Snow hit .600 for the week, slugged 1.300, posted a .667 on-base percentage and scored four runs.

Trinity (4-2) split a pair of double headers last week against Mary Hardin-Baylor and Our Lady of the Lake University. The 4-2 start for the Tigers is the best through six games since they began the season 6-0 in 2018. Senior outfielder Gina Monaco led Trinity at the plate, hitting .400 (4-for-10) with three runs scored and one RBI over four games, scoring twice in the win over UMHB on Wednesday. Senior Allie Holbrook picked up the win in both victories for the Tigers, scattering eight hits over 5.2 innings against UMHB and then struck out four batters in the game one victory against OLLU.

Schreiner (2-4) went 1-3 over its last four contests, losing two contests to Houston-Victoria and splitting a doubleheader against Concordia. Sophomore Hannah Hollmansberger was outstanding in the four contests, batting .833 (10-for-12) with one homerun, seven extra base hits, 12 RBI, three runs scored, one walk, a .800 on-base percentage and a 1.583 slugging percentage. In the win over Concordia, Bri Wodtke picked up the win after going 4.0 innings, allowing just one earned run, and striking out one.

St. Thomas is now 2-4 on the year after dropping a pair of games to Texas A&M San Antonio and splitting a double header with Our Lady of the Lake University on Thursday. In the win over OLLU, freshman Shae Montemayor went 4-for-5 with two RBI, two doubles and a run scored. In total, Montemayor finished with nine hits, three runs and one stolen base.

Southwestern dropped both of its contests last week, falling to Div. II St. Edwards, twice. Tori Montemayor and Maddie Mefford each collected an RBI on the day.

SCAC Softball action continues this week as the league portion of the schedule begins. Texas Lutheran will take on Trinity in San Antonio, Schreiner will face off with St. Thomas in Houston, Austin College will travel to Centenary and Dallas will open its season on the road against Southwestern.
