JACOB HALLENBERGER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore midfielder from San Antonio, Texas., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played the week of Monday, October 8th to Sunday, October 14th.
Hallenberger to a pair of key wins in SCAC play, defeating Texas Lutheran and Dallas at home to remain atop the conference table. Hallenberger had a goal and two assists over the two games, including the overtime game-winner against Texas Lutheran on Wednesday. He provided the assist on the game-tying goal against TLU in the 71st minute, then vaulted Trinity to the win with a goal in the 100th minute of action.
Against Dallas, Hallenberger provided an assist that put the Tigers up 2-0 less than 90 seconds into the second half, allowing Trinity to avenge its only SCAC loss of the season. This season, Hallenberger is third on the team with 16 total points, tallying five goals and a team-leading six assists - including two game-winning goals.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior midfielder Gabe Rodriguez of Centenary led the Gents to a non-conference victory last week against Miss. Univ. for Women, scoring the game-winner and adding an assist for three total points. Senior midfielder Robert Malone of Colorado College scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season at Southwestern on Sunday to climb into a tie for 26th place in program history with 18 goals. Sophomore midfielder Chase Reynolds of Dallas scored twice and assisted the game-winning goal in the Crusaders victory against Schreiner last week. Junior forward Kip Karschnik of Southwestern scored the game-winning overtime goal and added an assist against Colorado College last Sunday to complete the two-goal comeback for the Pirates. The junior also added in an assist. Freshman forward Luis Green of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldog squad this week with 15 total shots, including five shots on goal. Green collected his fourth game-winning goal of the season in the 3-1 victory over Johnson & Wales. Green recorded a pair of goals against the Wildcats. In the 2-1 victory over Colorado College, Green opened scoring for TLU with an early goal in the 7th minute to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead going into the half. Green’s three goals this week gave him a total of six points.
