LUIS GREEN OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a freshman forward from Monterrey, Mexico, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played the week of Tuesday, September 4th to Sunday, September 9th.
Green led TLU to a pair of victories last week, including the Bulldogs’ SCAC opener against Centenary. In a non-conference win against Howard Payne, Green scored and added an assist as TLU ranged up seven goals, the most in a single game since 2010 for the Bulldogs.
The freshman then accounted for all three goals in the Bulldogs, 3-2, SCAC victory against Centenary. All three goals were unassisted. For the week, Green finished with four goals and one assist for nine total points.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior midfielder Juan Ramirez of Austin College had a fantastic performance against Johnson & Wales in a 3-0 victory, scoring twice in a four-minute span - including the game-winner - and putting three of his six shots on goal in the match. Sophomore midfielder Samson Heyer of Colorado College struck for his first collegiate goal as CC kicked off its conference schedule with a 1-0 victory at Austin College on Friday night. Trinity sophomore midfielder Andrea Codispoti led the 17th-ranked Tigers to a 3-0 win over Hardin-Simmons University on Friday night. Codispoti had a hand in all three goals, scoring the eventual game-winner in the third minute of play, then assisting on the next score in the 58th minute.
