SAN ANTONIO, Texas - In his first season as the Tiger cross country head coach, Derick Lawrence has been named the South/Southeast Women's Regional Coach of the Year.

Led by Coach Lawrence, Trinity's women's team will compete at the NCAA Division III Championships for the fifth time in school history.  The national meet will be hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology this weekend in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Trinity's women's cross country team won both the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship and the South/Southeast Regional Championship this season.  The conference title was the first in Tiger cross country history, while the regional title was the third in school history for Trinity's women's team.

At the regional meet, Trinity won by more than 100 points over hosting Emory University in second place.  The Tigers had a school-record seven runners earn All-Region honors at the meet.  Only three other schools nationally had all seven runners earn spots on their respective All-Region teams.

Trinity also won the men's SCAC Championship for the first time in school history, followed by a second-place finish by the Tiger men at the South/Southeast Regionals.  The Tiger men will also compete at nationals this weekend, which will be the first time in school history that Trinity has sent a men's team to the NCAA Championships.
