SYDNEY WILLIAMS OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a sophomore center from Round Rock, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played from Monday, January 14 through Sunday, January 20.
Williams was outstanding for the Mountaineers, helping Schreiner to a pair of SCAC wins, averaging a league-best 24.0 points and adding 8.0 rebounds per game. Against Colorado College on Friday, Williams posted a career-high 24 points on 61.1 percent shooting (11-for-18) while adding five rebounds. On Saturday, the sophomore was even more efficient, matching her point total from the night before on 66.7 percent shooting (10-for-15) and securing 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
Other Outstanding Performances:
Austin College senior forward Bryce Frank collected her 12th double-double performance of the season against Centenary on Satuday, scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds in the contest. In Southwestern’s loss to Texas Lutheran, junior center Cecily Wollfolk matched the season’s best scoring performance of 31 points while adding 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. Freshman center Hailey Coleman was efficient for Trinity averaging 13.0 points per game on a week-leading 72.2 percent shooting. Texas Lutheran sophomore guard Tara Molina led all players in assists last week, averaging 5.5 per game while also contributing 10.0 points per game. Sophomore guard McKenzee Gertz of Colorado College averaged a double-double tallying 14.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.
