BRIANA
HERNANDEZ OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a junior
catcher from Irving, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Softball
Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played through Sunday,
February 15th.
Hernandez led the Austin College softball
team to an excellent start to their 2015 season, going 4-0 this
past weekend.
Hernandez went 6-for-12 (.500) from the plate with three doubles, one homerun, and nine RBIs over the weekend including five runs scored. She had a slugging percentage of 1.000, an on base percentage of .538, and added a stolen base.
She had her biggest weekend against Southwestern Assemblies of God, going 2-for-3 with a homerum, two RBIs, and a run scored in a 3-1 win, and then followed that up with a 3-for-4 day with two doubles, four RBIs, and a run scored in a 7-1 win.
Last season, Hernandez finished second on the team with a .336 batting average and had seven doubles, a triple, four homers, and 28 runs batted in.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore
outfielder Lyda Tesauro of Dallas posted her first
multiple hit game since opening day, and was the difference in an
8-5 win that helped secure a sweep versus Sul Ross State
University. She drove in a career-high four Crusaders, and crossed
the plate herself twice in the victory. Junior outfielder Michele Ramos of
Southwetsern went 5-for-12 from the plate with one
double and one RBI for a .417 batting average. She had a .500
slugging percentage and .467 on base percentage. Centenary did not
nominate anyone. Schreiner, Texas Lutheran, and Trinity did not
play.
