KACI WELLIK OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a first-year right-hander from Austin, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February 25 through Sunday, March 3.

Wellik earned the victory in both of Trinity’s wins over Schreiner last week, starting one and coming on as a reliever in the other.

Wellik opened with a relief appearance in game one of the doubleheader, pitching the final 2.2 innings to earn the victory. The Tigers were trailing in the game when she came in, but she shut down the Schreiner offense, striking out four batters and allowing just one run. In game two, she went six strong innings, giving up a pair of runs on five hits to earn the victory.

Wellik also went 4-4 at the plate in game two, cracking her first collegiate home run to help her own cause.
