LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Five of the league’s seven men’s golf teams hit the links for their spring debuts this week with all five participating in the Alamo City Classic hosted by Trinity University.

Trinity hosted Centenary, Dallas, Schreiner and Texas Lutheran and two additional non-conference teams for its annual Alamo City Classic, played at the par-71, 6,703 yard The Quarry Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas. The host Tigers pulled away on Day Two to take an 11-shot victory over second-place Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Trinity was led by junior DJ Springer who shot 69-68 to lead the Tiger men to a repeat as team champions at the event. Springer won the tournament by two shots, breaking his previous low round at Trinity with Tuesday's 3-under score of 68. Senior Bryce Pidgeon shot 70-71 in his two rounds to finish in fifth place with his total of 141 over the two-day event, tying Springer for the team lead with nine birdies over two rounds.

Dallas, which was tied for the team lead with Mary Hardin-Baylor following the opening round, slipped to third place after the Crusaders shot 290 on Day Two to finish 575 and a shot behind UMHB. Junior Emilio Montalvo fired rounds of 71 and 71 to finish at even par 142 and finish in sixth place in the 40 man field.

Texas Lutheran matched Monday's team score of 289 with another 289 and finished three shots out of third, four shots out of second, and 15 shots behind tournament champion Trinity. Chase Maus, the first-round leader after Monday's 68, shot a 1-over-par 72 on Tuesday to finish with a two-day total of 140, three shots behind Trinity's Springer.

After Monday's opening round 291 (7-over par), Centenary followed with a 297 to finish at 588 (+20) and in fifth place at the Alamo City Classic. Sophomonre Richard Polan shot rounds of 73 and 71 for a two-round total of 144 and finished two-over-par - good for 10th place alone on the individual leaderboard.

Schreiner was the fifth SCAC team participating at the Alamo City Classic, coming in eighth with a two day total of 634 (310-324) and 66 over par. Junior Austin O'Brien paced the Mountaineers with an opening round 73 before settling for a two-day total of 156 (+14).
