MUSCARELLO OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior
shortstop from Tucson, Ariz., has been named the SCAC
Offensive Baseball Player-of-the-Week for games played Monday,
January 28 through Sunday, February 3.
Muscarello led Trinity to a three-game road
series win at Chapman University over the weekend, opening the
season with a 2-1 overall record.
Muscarello hit .545 (6-11) for the series, scoring three runs and driving in three more. He hit the season’s first home run for the Tigers, crushing a two-run shot that sealed the victory in Thursday’s season opener. He went 2-4 with two runs and two RBI in the first game, then had two hits in each of the next two games to continue his hot start to the season.
Last year, Muscarello was second on the team
with a .351 (65-185) batting average, and led the Tigers with 65
hits and 18 doubles. His 108 total bases and .584 slugging
percentage were also tops on the Trinity team in 2012.
