CONNOR
HANRAHAN OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY has been
selected the SCAC Character & Community Male
Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending March 7,
2010.
A senior captain on the men’s lacrosse team,
Hanrahan is very active in the local community and
a leader on campus.
He serves on the executive committee as president of SEAK (Students
for Environmental Activism and Knowledge) which has worked to
establish the infrastructure and overall direction of the
organization with an increase in membership. The group presented
information to President Schrum and the campus community, which
culminated in the signing of the Presidents’ Climate
Commitment and the purchasing of 100% wind energy for
Southwestern.
Hanrahan is also the founder of the New Gardens
Campaign at Southwestern – which received a $800 grant from
the McMichael Fund to begin a house/garden/yard maintenance program
for low-income families in a neighboring community.
A resident assistance at Southwestern, Hanrahan is
a Paideia Scholar and a recipient of both the Southwestern
University “Golden Bowl” Award as well as the
school’s Sophomore Leadership Award.
