REBECCA BERRETH OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior shortstop from Pearland, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, February 11th.
Berreth led Trinity to a doubleheader sweep in its home opener against Concordia (TX) University on Saturday.
Berreth went 3-6 with five RBI in the two games, cracking a double and a triple. Her two-run double in game one tied things up 2-2 and the Tigers went on to win 6-4. In game two, Berreth erased a 4-1 deficit with a three-run triple in the bottom of the sixth inning.
This season, Berreth leads the Tigers with a .565 batting average, hitting 13-23 with six runs and 11 RBI. She has hit six doubles, two triples, and a home run for a slugging percentage of 1.130 for the year.
This is Berreth's second hitter of the week honor this season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior infielder Mel Savala of the University of Dallas debuted the season with solid performances in each game. Her 3-4 with two RBI and runs scored helped the Crusaders to a 12-6 win over Hendrix in game 1. Junior utility player Kassie Maddox of Texas Lutheran University hit .571 with a two-run homer and an RBI double in a doubleheader sweep of Huston-Tillotson. She tallied four hits in seven at-bats and scored one run.
