KELEHER FELTON OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a sophomore goalkeeper from Chicago, Ill., has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, October 20th.
Felton improved to 6-1-0 since taking over for the injured Keller Mochel leading the Tigers to a pair of crucial road wins over the weekend to vault CC to the top of the table. On Friday against Austin College, Felton stopped all five shots he faced while recording his third shutout of the season in the 1-0 victory. He followed that performance up with a career-high 10 saves during Sunday’s 2-1 win at Dallas. He lowered his season goals-against-average to 0.71 and improved his save percentage to .844 with his fourth consecutive win.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore goalkeeper Pedro Medrano of St. Thomas made five saves in the Celts 2-1 win at Centenary last Friday. Senior defender Lalo Lopez-Rivera of Texas Lutheran led a TLU defensive effort that allowed just one goal per match in a 1-1 week in SCAC play. Sophomore defender Jacob Galan of Trinity led the Tigers to a pair of SCAC road wins last weekend, defeating Southwestern and Texas Lutheran to move up to second in the conference standings. Galan and the Trinity defense gave up just eight shots in each game, as well as picking up a shutout in the weekend finale on Sunday.
