JOSEPH KHALAF OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a junior goalkeeper from Sherman, Texas. has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, Septebmer 1st through Monday, September 5th.
Khalaf anchored an Austin College defense that yielded just one goal in two games as the 'Roos earned a pair of victories.
Khalaf made 10 total saves, including seven in a win over Texas-Dallas, a team that was selected to win the American Southwest Conference. He also combined for a shutout in a 3-0 win over George Fox on Saturday.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior goalkeeper Brandon Anselmi of Schreiner University led the Mountaineers to a 2-0 start with a pair of 1-0 shutout against East Texas Baptist and Letourneau University. Senior goalkeeper Ryan Benner of Southwestern University led the Pirates to two wins over the weekendm defeating Rhodes College and Hendrix College on the road. Junior goalkeeper Brendan Soto of Texas Lutheran University helped keep the Bulldogs unbeaten after a pair of overtime games this weekend. Soto recorded 12 saves for the week, while recording a shutout. Sophomore goalkeeper Blake Lieberman of Trinity University earned a pair of victories in his first two starts at keeper, including a win over #7 University of the Redlands where he posted a career-high five saves.
