TYLER CAULEY OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore first baseman from Baytown, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, April 8th.
Cauley posted at least .500 batting averages in all four games play this week. Overall, he was 10-for-16 with a total of five runs scores and three RBI.
In non-conference play against University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Wednesday, Cauley was 2-for-4 with a solo home run. He produced a 1.250 slugging percentage against the Cru. In the three-game conference series sweep over University of Dallas, Cauley went a combined 8-for-12 with four runs scores, a double, two triples and three RBI.
Cauley ended the week with a .625 overall batting average, and a .667 batting average in conference play. He added a 1.083 slugging percentage in conference, and overall 1.125 percentage.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior infielder Brett Taff of Austin College batted .500 with a .611 on-base percentage and a .571 slugging percentage, scoring five runs and driving in three more. Freshman infielder Jeffrey Williams of Schreiner University hit .500 last week and slugged 1.286 after hitting three home runs in the Mountaineers second game against Austin College. Sophomore outfielder Byron Dowdell II of Southwestern University hit .333 with five RBI and three runs scored to lead the Pirates last week. Senior outfielder Blake Frampton of Trinity University hit .550 (11-20) for the week, driving in three runs and scoring seven more as the top-ranked Tigers went 4-0.
