ANDREW WATERS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior outfielder from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Offensive Player of the Week for games played Monday, February 22nd through Sunday February 28th.
Waters was on fire over the weekend, leading Trinity to a 4-0 overall week that finished with a three-game sweep of Austin College on Friday and Saturday. Waters hit a blistering .833 (10-12) in the three games against Austin, collecting four doubles, two triples, and two home runs among his 10 hits. He also scored six runs and added eight RBI, posting an astronomical 2.000 slugging percentage for the weekend.
The week began for Waters with a Friday night doubleheader during which he was 7-8 with four runs and six RBI, picking up four doubles, a triple, and a round-tripper. He followed that with Saturday evening's 3-4 performance that included two runs, two RBI, a triple, and another homer.
During his hot streak, Waters had hits in seven consecutive at-bats for the Tigers. This season, Waters is now hitting .750 (12-16) with eight runs and 12 RBI. Despite played in just five games, and starting his first three games this weekend, he leads the Tigers in home runs, and is tied for the team lead with two triples. He is also tied for second on the team with his four doubles, and is second on the team in RBI.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior outfielder Michael Schimpf of Centenary College hit .500, slugged .833 and was a triple away from the cycle in game two against Schreiner. Senior third baseman Keaton Bohrmann of Texas Lutheran homered and drove in five in four games last week. He hit .389 and slugged .667. He scored four runs and had seven total hits.
